This policy describes what CountryVisit collects when you use country-visit.com. It is written for this product, not copied from another site.
Who we are
CountryVisit, the operator of https://country-visit.com/. Contact: hello@country-visit.com.
Photos and the map
Import happens in your browser. Photo files are opened locally; only EXIF GPS is read and matched to boundaries downloaded to the device. We do not receive original photos, and we do not receive coordinates, thumbnails, or a map unless you sign in and explicitly upload a cloud backup. The map lives in the browser's local database (IndexedDB / localStorage). Clearing site data or using in-app “clear” removes it. The iPhone Shortcut sends coordinates (and optional tiny thumbnails) to the open Safari page on your phone, not to our servers.
Optional account
If you create an account we store email and a password hash so you can sign in. If you click upload, we store a footprint backup — coordinates, dates, filenames/fingerprints, and optional small thumbnails — on our database host (Neon / Postgres), not original photos. Downloads merge into the local map. Delete the account or email us to erase server-side backup and account records.
Analytics
Every public page loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-SEYKKB7ZCM), operated by Google. GA4 may set cookies or use similar identifiers and collect approximate location, device/browser, pages viewed, and referrers. We use this to see whether the site is useful, not to identify you personally. We do not use Google Ads / AdSense. Opt out: Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block/clear cookies. GA4's own policy applies to Google's processing.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may log IP address, user-agent, and request URL in server logs for security and reliability. DNS for the domain is at Cloudflare; HTTP traffic is served by Vercel.
Cookies and local storage
Strictly necessary local data for the map, skin, and (if signed in) session. GA4 cookies as above. No advertising cookies. No cookie-consent popup at this time; using the site with analytics enabled is described here so you can choose to block it.
Payments
Paid plans are not offered. We do not collect payment card data.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal data, use photos for advertising or training, or require an account to use the map.
Retention
Local map until you clear it. Account and cloud backup until you delete them or we close the service. Analytics per Google's retention. Hosting logs per Vercel's defaults, typically a short period.
Your choices
You can use the product without an account, decline cloud upload, and clear local data in the app or browser. Email hello@country-visit.com for a copy or deletion of account/backup data. You can also block GA.
Children
CountryVisit is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We will update this page and the “Last updated” date when the policy changes.
