This policy describes what CountryVisit collects when you use country-visit.com. It is written for this product, not copied from another site.
Who we are
CountryVisit, the operator of https://country-visit.com/. Contact: admin@country-visit.com.
Photos and the map
Import happens in your browser. Photo files are opened locally; only EXIF GPS is read and matched to boundaries downloaded to the device. We do not receive original photos, EXIF files, or image thumbnails. The map lives in the browser's local database (IndexedDB / localStorage). Clearing site data or using in-app “clear” removes it. You can import and export a local footprint JSON of aggregated visits at any time, with no account. The iPhone Shortcut sends coordinates to the open Safari page on your phone, not to our servers.
Optional account
If you create an account we store email and a password hash so you can sign in. Cloud upload is optional and never automatic. When you click upload, we store only aggregated visit information derived from your map: filenames, dates, country/region matches, pin coordinates, and fingerprints used to merge devices, on our database host (Neon / Postgres). We do not store original photos, EXIF, or thumbnail images, and this is not a photo storage service. You can delete that cloud copy from your account at any time; once deleted we do not keep it. Downloads merge into the local map. You can also email us to erase the account itself.
Analytics
Every public page loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-SEYKKB7ZCM), operated by Google. GA4 may set cookies or use similar identifiers and collect approximate location, device/browser, pages viewed, and referrers. We use this to see whether the site is useful, not to identify you personally. We do not use Google Ads / AdSense. Opt out: Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block/clear cookies. GA4's own policy applies to Google's processing.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may log IP address, user-agent, and request URL in server logs for security and reliability. DNS for the domain is at Cloudflare; HTTP traffic is served by Vercel. Mail to admin@country-visit.com is forwarded with Cloudflare Email Routing; we do not host a mailbox on this domain.
Cookies and local storage
Strictly necessary local data for the map, skin, and (if signed in) session. GA4 cookies as above. No advertising cookies. No cookie-consent popup at this time; using the site with analytics enabled is described here so you can choose to block it.
Payments
Paid plans are not offered. We do not collect payment card data.
Retention
Local map until you clear it or export/import it as JSON on your device. Optional cloud backup until you delete it from your account, email us, or we close the service. Analytics per Google's retention. Hosting logs per Vercel's defaults, typically a short period.
Your choices
You can use the product without an account, decline cloud upload, export or import footprint JSON locally, and clear local data in the app or browser.
Children
CountryVisit is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We will update this page and the “Last updated” date when the policy changes.
