About CountryVisit
CountryVisit is a free countries visited map that fills itself in from the GPS already stored in your photos. You point it at a folder, a camera roll, or an iPhone Shortcut export; the browser reads each photo's coordinates, matches them to country and region boundaries, and lights the map. Original photo files never leave the device.
If you took a picture there, it should count
It exists because clicking 195 countries by hand is a chore, and most “visited countries” maps stop at a checklist. If you took a picture there, it should count — countries, US states, and other first-level regions included.
CountryVisit is a small independent project. It is not a social network, not a photo backup service, and not affiliated with other visited-country map sites. The map, the counters, the US states view and the Shortcut are free. An optional account exists only so you can back up footprints (coordinates and tiny thumbnails) and restore them on another device.
Data and questions
Boundary data comes from geoBoundaries (CC BY 4.0). The map renders with MapLibre GL.
